Hi Dolls,

I'm back again with another show and tell from Nazuri Curls. For the past 6 weeks I've been rocking the Nazuri Curls Kinky Curly and honestly I am OBSESSED with this hair! Its so unbelievably gorgeous, I just love it. The curl pattern is looser than the Afro Kinky Curly (AKC) and the it's also got a higher lustre so it's shinier. I'm wearing three packs of hair in 18", 20 and 22" -same lengths I wore in the AKC, but because the curls are a lot looser you get a better length pay off. I'd say you can expect this hair to come up about 3-4 inches shorter when curly i.e. not stretched than the advertised length.

Maintenance
This hair was a lot easier to manage than my AKC. I put a little conditioner and water in my spray bottle and spray my curls every other day. This helps to refresh the curls and sometimes I'll use some curling mousse to keep the hair from growing (yes this hair grows) into a huge afro. Now I love big hair but I work in a professional environment so I try to keep it tame during the week. After spraying it with water and conditioner and putting in bit of mousse, I'll rake some leave in conditioner through it with my fingers (currently using the Shea Moisture Curl Enhancing Smoothie - go figure these extensions love it!) and let it air dry. On the weekends I'll wash and deep condition it and use a wide-tooth comb to detangle any knots (gently!)

Blending
For the first 4 weeks I actually wore this hair as a weave with a middle part leave out. Unfortunately I lost the pictures I took with it in this style because my phone got stolen before I could transfer them to my computer. But I wont lie, it wasn't that easy to blend. Because the curl pattern was looser and shinier than my natural hair I had two problems to combat. As far as manipulating my hair, the best method that worked for me was to twist my own hair around the curls. I didn't take any photos of this but I followed Taylor Morgan's tutorial here. To combat the shine, I tried out a few gloss sprays. The shine spray from the Dark N Lovely Au Naturale range worked the best for my hair (FYI Creme of Nature's was useless). Blending this hair got easier after few tries but it it required daily manipulation which was too time consuming for me.

Wigs vs Weaves
After all my blending drama I just decided to make a full wig (no leave out). The great thing about curly hair is full weaves/wig look a lot more natural than full wigs/weaves with straight hair. So I've been able to keep all my hair protected which is perfect. I've been wearing weaves a lot more this year than last (so far I've had three) and it's so easy to get caught up in the convenience of putting your hair away for 4 weeks at a time. I haven't noticed that my natural hair's suffered at all (I'm always good with moisturising, cowashing and deep conditioning it even when I have a weave) but for me the biggest issue is detangling my extensions! Its 100% easier for me to detangle curly extensions when its off my head. I also experience less matting at the nape when its on a wig also. All the pictures in this post were taken with this hair installed as a full wig - made by me! And I've found it a lot easier to cope with since doing it.

  2. Hi,

I was wondering what you did for the closure bit of your wig. I really want to make one but I don't know how to close it to look like yours.

    1. Hi Amy, Its a full wig with no closure. The closest thing to describe how I closed it will be to check out my Fringe Wig post. I followed that technique but sewed it instead of bonding x
